Senior or Staff Golang Engineer /Remote

A cutting-edge AI startup is reimagining how teams communicate using real-time AI companions, and we’re looking for a Senior or Staff Backend Engineer (Golang) to scale our backend systems and infrastructure. This is a full-time, fully remote role focused on building high-performance backend services in Go to support intelligent workplace communication tools powered by modern AI.

You'll be part of a small, senior team building the backbone of our intelligent assistant platform, handling real-time APIs, data streaming, system architecture, and scaling challenges. If you're a backend-first engineer with a passion for performance, distributed systems, and owning critical architecture, this role offers the opportunity to influence foundational systems, lead technical initiatives, and grow into engineering leadership. Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years using Go (Golang) in production
• 2+ years working with SQL (and NoSQL) databases at both application and infrastructure levels, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning
• Experience designing and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs, with emphasis on integrating AI/ML inference endpoints and ensuring predictable SLAs
• Strong understanding of backend system design, distributed computing, and microservices architecture
• Experience building scalable APIs and backend infrastructure for real-time or data-intensive systems
• Familiarity working alongside ML engineers to integrate or support ML-powered features in production

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting production ML workflows (e.g., model serving, inference infrastructure)
• Familiarity with real-time messaging platforms or collaborative productivity tools
• Exposure to event-driven architectures, data pipelines, or WebSockets
• Understanding of modern ML/AI trends (e.g., LLMs, vector databases, RAG), especially from a backend support perspective
• Prior experience contributing to system-level performance optimization and observability
